Amanda J Spedding is a professional editor, proofreader, and award-winning author and graphic novelist.

A journalist by trade, she holds a Diploma of Publishing (Professional Book Editing, Proofreading and Publishing), a Cert. IV (Editing), and has thirteen years industry experience. She is the Editor-in-Chief at Cohesion Press, and a pitch consultant for Blur Studios.

Amanda has edited fiction, non-fiction, and graphic novels of all lengths and genres, which has given her a broader understanding of style, voice and readership. She has extensive experience with genre fiction, and an innate understanding of story structure, plot development, character agency and arc, and how it all works together to create a truly engaging tale. As an author in her own right, she understands the need to maintain a writer's unique voice and style.

She has worked on stories from Cohesion’s SNAFU series that were optioned for all three seasons of the Emmy-winning animated Netflix series Love, Death & Robots, spearheaded by Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) and David Fincher (Mindhunter, Fight Club, Seven).

Amanda has a passion for both editing and writing, and won the Australian Shadows Award for written work in a graphic novel (2015) for her comic The Road to Golgotha, and the Australian Shadows Award for short fiction (2011) for her steampunk tale, Shovel-Man Joe. She earned a finalist berth in the Aurealis Award fantasy short story category (2018) for her grimdark story, Child of the Emptyness. Her stories have been published in local and international markets earning recommended reads and honourable mentions.
